Forklift Driver - Production

Palmer Candy is looking for a 1st shift Forklift Driver at our Hwy 75 facility.

Shift hours: 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday with frequent overtime on Friday and Saturday.

Overall Purpose:

Under the direction of the plant manager, assists with the loading and unloading of supply shipments of our fine quality products in a safe, secure, and sanitary manner within the appropriate specifications outlined by company managers.

Essential Job Functions:

• Regular attendance.
• Operate a forklift to assist with the loading, unloading, hauling, and staging of incoming and outgoing materials and products.
• Safely and effectively load and unload products from warehouse and trailers.
• Assist in the arrangement of stock in warehouse and the delivery of items to appropriate departments and/or locations.
• Prepare supplies, products, and shipments for transportation.
• Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations.
• Perform simple maintenance or cleaning.
• Maintain appropriate inventory counts of products.
• Correctly record lot numbers, date codes and other product information required for shipments
• Ability to interact with all functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with individuals at all levels and functions.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or management.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

• 1-3 years of prior forklift experience in a manufacturing environment required.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all functions within the plant and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all levels.
• Great attention to detail.
• Ability to work overtime as needed and as required.
• Ability to maintain acceptable standards of conduct.

Work Environment:

• Possible exposure to minor burns or cuts.
• Sitting/standing for long periods of time with the ability to quickly move on and off a forklift.
• Repetitive motion and fast paced movement.
• Continual lifting or carrying.
• Lift up to 40 – 50 pounds occasionally and 5 – 30 pounds frequently.
• Continual use of hands and feet to handle, control or feel objects/gears.
• Handle, control and/or feel objects/product.
• Continual jarring movements from the loading and unloading product
