  • Design – Build build or extrapolate experience on total lifecycle of large scale agricultural projects including R&D, project development, feasibility and concept design, design and specification development, innovative specific solutions, estimating, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Essential Functions

  • Expert ability to problem solve and innovate solutions for customers related to biosecurity, livestock health, facility efficiencies, and livestock buildings systems and structures
  • Engage in management, planning, engineering, designing, and problem solving for the development of livestock structures and facilities new construction and retrofits. Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making some substantial engineering adaptations and modifications to assigned aspects of project plans.
  • Assist in serving as a technical consultant concerning livestock facilities planning, design, construction and/or maintenance for different categories of facilities, and utilize program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control and budget systems, and other management tools to accomplish programming, determine resources and perform long-range planning.
  • Review consultant and in-house prepared design drawings, indicating basic design corrections, review technical specifications, and review engineering plans for compliance with regulatory acts. Assist in the evaluation of contract bids, make recommendations regarding feasibility studies and assist in the engineering and design management of large-scale construction projects.
  • Creative problem solving and resource utilization to meet customer high level objectives and value engineer solutions
  • Build deep understanding of Summit Livestock Facilities core value propositions, and become a key player in developing innovations and intellectual property within livestock agricultural engineering and design

Work Environment

This job will be located in an office setting most consistently; however occasional travel to job sites will be necessary.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, a general agricultural degree closely related engineering degree from an accredited college, university or technical school.
  • Four years of full-time engineering experience.
  • Agricultural construction ideal

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Passed Part I of the Professional Engineer’s Examination.
