Intermountain Electronics, Inc. currently accepting applications for a Mechanical Engineer/Design Engineer for preliminary design and cost estimation for our IEC Department located in Price, UT facility.

What You Will Do

This position will be responsible for preliminary design data and estimation as the initial step to a successful project that relates to mechanical, electromechanical products and structures used in various power distribution applications.

Major Duties:

• Cost estimation for major structural/mechanical components, state requirements, and applicable customer requirements.
• Develop engineering design concepts for components and electromechanical assemblies that have unique and challenging requirements for size, precision, reliability and cost.
• Use 3D modeling and 2D drawings to estimate preliminary physical and mechanical designs, details, drawings, and layouts for estimation purposes.
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application; Consults with customer to calculate cost and determine feasibility of projects based on analysis of collected data.
• Preliminary structural or mechanical analysis of manufactured equipment in compliance with AISC, IBC, state, local and other applicable codes and costs associated with requirements.
• Interface with Segment Lead, Production Manager, Production engineers, shop floor supervisors, and project managers to coordinate, or monitor the technical aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs.
• Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; as well as confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering
• Good administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve high quality results through continual attention to detail and anticipation of potential problems during the early planning and design review stages of projects.
• Proficient using AutoCAD, Solid Edge or SolidWorks, Excel, MSWord and Outlook
• Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills
• Good understanding of the relationship between product design and manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
• Proven ability to work successfully with a cross-functional team.
