SUMMARY

The Residential Technician is responsible for assisting and carrying out a variety of clinical and program services. This person plays an essential role in the assurance of the admitting process, orientation to new clients and overall client management. Receives clinical supervision from Technician Supervisor and Program Director. Receives direction for operational organization of the Facility from Operations Manager. Works cooperatively as a recovery team member.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Observes and monitors client behavior and intervenes based on schedule, individual client treatment plan and house needs.
  2. Conducts UA drug screen collection when directed, following appropriate procedures.
  3. Supervises self-administration of client medications.
  4. Facilitates assigned groups/meetings/activities and documents observations/milieu interventions in client records/shift log during every shift/group.
  5. Coordinates milieu treatment with counseling staff.
  6. Facilitates daily activities in a residential component; waking up clients, chore supervision, assists with meal service, makes coffee on the daily basis, assists with laundry.
  7. Transports clients to airport, detox, appointments, hospital, doctor office, outside meetings, store runs, rec groups and other guest/company transportation requirements
  8. Ensures client telephones are available during designated hours.
  9. Conducts regular house checks, fire drills, and disaster drills to ensure safety and security.
  10. Completes new clients' admission/intake paperwork and conducts orientations including person and baggage search.
  11. Provides one-on-one supervision of at-risk clients (ATA risk; suicidal ideation, etc.) and ATA prevention per directive from Technician Supervisor or Program Director.
  12. Facilitates assigned aftercare groups and conducts house checks.
  13. Completes filing and other miscellaneous administrative work as assigned.
  14. Work schedule includes assignments to support clients in 24 x 7 facility.
  15. Must be available within 30 minutes for on-call transportation duties during the evening, and two times a month on weekends.
  16. Maintain and pass annual background and TB screening, as well as random drug screening.
  17. Performs other related duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a high school diploma (college degree preferred).
  • Minimum of one (1) year training/experience in addiction preferred and/or currently pursuing a degree in addiction or related behavioral health field. Experience must include at least one (1) year of experience with target population (chemical dependency and/or mental health).
  • Demonstrated ability to cooperate with team members and work in collaborative team setting, flexible in accepting assignments that correspond with a varied work load.
  • Communication skills sufficient to assess clients and interpret this information in terms of chemical dependency.
  • Demonstrated sufficient understanding in the process of dependency/addiction and knowledge of available recovery resources and their use(s).
  • Maintains current CPR and First Aid training.
  • Current TB Test or secured at time of hire.
  • Be certified, licensed, or registered to obtain licensure or certification, or if not licensed or certified, will have six months after hire to be registered, in an accredited institution as defined by Chapter 8, Certification of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors, to become a licensed or certified counselors.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
  • Valid unrestricted state driver's license.

  • Mental/visual strain associated with frequent interventions and negotiations (sometimes crisis intervention) with chemically dependent clients and their family members.
  • Work activities are partially structured and require judgment in setting priorities.
  • Physical: Sufficient vision; independent body mobility (sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending).
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
