We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to come join our team in Hogansville. is responsible for maintaining Quality Assurance production policies and programs, ensuring conformity of the raw materials and finished goods to established quality and specification standards. Will also ensure that proper testing procedures are in place and are being properly utilized, as well as our compliance to production specifications. In addition, this position will also be responsible for the implementation of Food Safety and Quality Standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized reports to the Vice President of Quality & Regulatory Affairs
  • Deliver periodic status updates of various activities in the quality department
  • Work with Technical department to ensure quality specifications are met
  • Manage the quality assurance function of the company
  • Identify levels of staffing for quality assurance testing
  • Training of QA personnel
  • Develop lab technicians so they are knowledgeable and responsive to quality issues
  • Supervise testing of finished products to ensure quality and food safety requirements are met
  • Ensure that proper tests and procedures are being applied on all finished products
  • Identify equipment needed for all quality assurance testing
  • Report results of quality tests performed
  • Manage production formulas and control access to formulas for update and adjustments
  • Manage all non-conforming products
  • To ensure product is isolated and disposition determined
  • To ensure appropriate paperwork is completed and distributed
  • To ensure traceability procedures are in place for use
  • Assist production and warehouse personnel with daily issues/problems
  • Develop and utilize daily and weekly reports to communicate status of production and process controls
  • Lead in resolution of internal and customer product complaints
  • Ensure timely testing and response of quality assurance
  • Provide complaint analysis reports
  • Assist R&D projects as needed.
  • Assist in development of new products by cooking up samples for taste tests and making up samples to send to customers
  • Testing competitor’s products and testing ingredients for supplier approval or for cost/quality issues
  • Be an active member of Food Safety Committee
  • Validate and verify policies and procedures of food safety standards
  • Maintain lab supplies.
  • Close batches in the absence of QA technicians.
  • Lead 3rd party audits with certification body and be the point of contact for all inspections with government regulators.
  • Perform other duties as may be deemed appropriate.
  • Responsible for the Housekeeping of the assigned work area.
  • Responsible for own accountability
  • Ensure compliance with House-Autry quality standards.
  • Ensure procedures comply with House-Autry standards.
  • Comply with Federal and State Safety Regulations and House-Autry policies.
  • The employee is required to implement GMP standards and follow safety rules
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • B.S/BA in Food Science, Biology, Nutrition, Chemistry, or other science related field or equivalent years of related experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in food manufacturing plant (Sauce manufacturing a plus).
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Training certifications preferred: PCQI, HACCP (16-hour), Better Process Control School, SQF Practitioner.
  • Experience in handling third party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections (FDA) preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, food safety management systems, pest control, microbiology, sanitation, and GFSI compliance required.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities proactively and re-prioritize.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and quickly initiate actions required to resolve problems.
  • Must be able to make quick decisions while collaboratively analyzing and pinpointing problems.
  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA, state regulations preferred.
  • Retort processing preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Education may be substituted by experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
