Organization Overview:

The State Bank of Herscher was chartered in 1902 by a group of residents who understood what a local bank meant for the well-being of their community. The growth that we have experienced since that time has allowed us to move to our present location in Herscher as well as expand to Limestone. State Bank of Herscher is built on the principle of offering the best banking and lending products while providing superior customer service. Position Summary:

The Loan Officer is responsible for the origination and relationship management of a sound and growing loan portfolio that will provide maximum profitability to the bank with a minimum of risk. This high contact position requires the ability to initiate and develop prospective and current client relationships through a proactive and professional sales approach. This includes actively developing relationships with CPAs, attorneys, and commercial/residential realtors for the purpose of originating commercial and consumer loans.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Apply product and service knowledge to effectively meet existing customers and/or prospective clients banking needs.
  2. Solicits and develops new commercial, consumer, and mortgage loan business to meet or exceed annual production goals in conjunction with the bank’s Strategic Business Plan and Budget.
  3. Collect and analyze financial data of customers and/or prospects to determine credit worthiness and develop an appropriate loan structure.
  4. Determines approval or rejection of loan applications in accordance with bank policy and communicates same to applicant.
  5. Negotiates terms including costs, collateral requirements, repayment methods, and rates to successfully obtain new business and retain existing customers.
  6. Monitors loan repayment and assists in collection or coordination of payments to minimize delinquency and meet bank standards.
  7. Conducts periodic customer meetings to enhance customer retention and assist with the annual loan review process.
  8. Maintains professional communication and conduct with all clients, prospects, and associates.
  9. Provide referrals or direct servicing to customers and prospective clients for other banking products including, but not limited to, Deposits, Cash Management, and Business Banking Services, where applicable.
  10. Uses all available resources to provide value-added advice and/or recommendations for the potential improvement of customer’s business operations, productivity, etc., as appropriate.
  11. Maintains and promotes a superior level of professional customer service. Proactively provides solutions and resolves customer concerns and requests.
  12. Actively participates in community organizations and events to increase the bank’s visibility and image in order to build a solid referral network.
  13. Participates in professional organizations to enhance further personal development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines. Maintain FFG corporate standard for delinquency and charge offs, within scope of responsibility.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting, or a minimum 10 years’ experience in a related lending field that would demonstrate an ability to manage a bank loan portfolio. Must be familiar with market area. Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel regionally, as needed.
