Overview
Minnesota Industrial Coatings is always searching for talented and skilled Powder Coat Painters to join our team. The mission of the Powder Coater is to use technique, skill, and ability to produce a quality powder paint on a wide range of metal products to meet customer requirements. The Powder Coater will be an asset by cross training in various departments across the production floor.
We are currently hiring for 1st shift, which is Monday through Thursday, 6:00am until 4:30pm.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform electrostatic powder coating of products in a spray booth or batch booth according to specification.
- Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using quality tools
- Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance
- Cleaning of Powder Coating booth and powder guns at the end of shift or during paint changes.
- Inspect material from fabrication shop for successful application
- Coat manufactured parts consistent to customer and internal quality needs
- Operate automated spray booth and manual spray guns
- Utilize the paint line as efficiently as possible with minimal stoppages and gaps
- Operate all coating equipment including the guns, hoppers, and booth collection system
- Comfortability in coating on a perpetual line as well as in batch powder setting
- Paint parts consistently per instructions and quality specs
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist/support the Floor Supervisor and Operations Manager with tasks as necessary
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- At least 1-3 years of Powder Coating experience preferred
- Comfortability in working in non-temperature-controlled work environment
- Able to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment
- Ability to maintain a pace of work that matches line speed
- Ability to identify and consistently maintain required mil thickness
- Ability to perform color changes, and properly maintain powder delivery system
- Strong work ethic, very strong attendance, and the desire to excel
- Have a strong knowledge of powder and the different types of characteristics
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a consistent basis
Ability to stand for up to 10 hours
Excellent hand/eye coordination
Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools
Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
Consistently wear personal protective equipment
Ability to work in production facility with fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels
