Project Controller

Galveston, Texas

Salary: $150k -$160k + annual bonus

Company Industry: Construction

HIGH amount of travel required in this role (every other week)

Seeking someone with 7-10 years of experience in the construction industry and ability to oversee high level financial functions for profitable completion of assigned projects

 

Responsibilities:

  • Builds, maintains, and updates financial tracking models group, including assistance with the preparation of budget and analysis of variances between actual O&M & project costs and budget.
  • management to allow to make timely decisions.
  • Creates purchase requisitions and monitors, manages and maintains detailed records of both the contract and change orders, specifically around the challenging and analysis of change requests for both projected scope and associated estimated costs, and maintaining records.
  • Complies with project accounting coding procedures.
  • Reviews contractor/consultant invoices and tracks against authorized budget for both O&M and capital. Codes invoices against the proper accounting general ledger.
  • Supports O&M and project managers to build and validate the financial and cost portions of business cases for potential changes to the cost estimates.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual and long-term capital and operating budgets analysis.
  • Collects and assists in the evaluation of data and development of plans and economic/technical requirements for projects.
  • Assists with research and evaluation of economic (market) opportunity, applicable regulation compliance and cost impact of equipment and material utilization.
  • Assists in preparing reports, proposals, graphs, planning layouts and summaries designed to communicate plans, progress or results.
  • Maintains working knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices for cost analytics.
  • Communicates observed opportunities to improve business results.

 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

·         Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience

·         Experience in managing financial reporting

·         Effective time management and organization skills

·         Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel

·         Effective time management and organizational skills
