Accounting Clerk

Overview

GGC Provides a variety of feed that is essential to satisfy animal demands at various stages of their lifecycle. GGC produces approximately 16,000 tons of feed per week. The accounting department is responsible for financial records in regard to all aspects of operations.

Purpose of Position

The position’s main objective is to assist with general accounting support tasks, which include verifying accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents; updating and maintaining accounting journals and ledgers; entering data into computer software programs; compiling data and preparing a variety of reports; reconciling records with internal company employees and management, external vendors, or customers; investigating questionable data.

Work Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• Some overtime and weekend work may be required.

Note: There may be circumstances that require a deviation from the schedule due to the volume of work created by staffing, or natural disasters.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties

• Performing basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
• Data entry into the accounting software.
• Maintaining a database, ensuring that records are complete and current.
• Recording information, processing, and filing forms.
• Preparing checks, deposits, and financial reports.
• Updating ledgers, researching, and resolving discrepancies.
• Abiding by all company procedures and accounting principles.
• Responding appropriately to vendor, client, and internal requests.
• All other duties as assigned.

Other Position Characteristics

1. Physical Effects:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work from a computer, sitting for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or extend arms, and walk regularly throughout the day. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Employee is also required to use fingers to grasp and feel textures, size, and shape of objects.

2. Work Environmental and Biosecurity:

The employee will be working the majority of the time indoors. Employee may be required to visit various facilities, and must abide by facilities’ regulations in regard to personal protective equipment (PPE), biosecurity, etc.

3. Safety for Others

The employee must comply with OSHA, and GMC rules and regulations to maintain a safe work environment. The employee should also ensure that others comply with these rules and regulations.

Knowledge, Education and Experience

· High School and/or GED Diploma with a minimum of two (2) years accounting experience preferred

Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office

· Data Entry Skills

· Knowledge accounting principles, practices, and processes

· Knowledge of Agricultural Commodities

· Verbal and written communication in English

· Ability to work effectively with all levels of management

· Ability to perform multiple tasks

· Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills

• Accounting Support Occupations: 2 years (Preferred)
• Accounting: 2 years (Preferred)
