St. James Parish Government is hiring for Equipment Operator - Roll Off Truck Driver - under the Operations Department.
JOBFUNCTION: Drives or operates gasoline or diesel-powered trucks and/ortractors characterized as moderately complex to maintain parish property,servitude, rights-of-way, and to repair roads and other facilities. Thedistinction between an Equipment Operator and this position concerns the use ofmore complicated equipment and skill required. This position is classified asessential during declared emergencies or natural disasters. This is a nonexemptposition, forty hours per week. This position is "Safety Sensitive" and subjectto random drug testing as per the St. James Parish Government EmployeeHandbook. Individuals in this class can complete the majority of theirprojects/assignments with a minimum amount of supervision.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes any combination of the following illustrative examples ofduties and responsibilities including but not limited to:
•Performs maintenance to equipment such as checking fuel, oil, andother lubricant levels; performs necessary emergency repairs; observesindicators to check for proper function of machinery and stops operation whenindicated; reports major mechanical problem for repair.
•Maintains logs for mileage, fuel consumption, materialstransported in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
•Drives or operates small and large dump trucks, tandem trucks, tomaintain parish property, servitude, and rights-of-way.
•Maintains equipment by washing and cleaning.
•Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONREQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able toperform each essential duty satisfactorily.
