About Duke HomeCare & Hospice

Pursue your passion for caring with Duke HomeCare & Hospice, which offers hospice, home health, and infusion services across the region, as well as serves as the home for the Duke Caregiver Support Program. Team members work closely with a patient’s physician to provide comprehensive, individualized care in the comfort of their home or at our inpatient hospice facility in Durham, NC.

Performs professional nursing care for patients in a primary ca repreferred.setting (thehome or alternate caresite) according to nursing practices, agency policies and regulations.Education andFormal Training :Bachelor#s degree in nursing (B.S.) preferred. Associate or DiplomaDegr ee in nursing required.Work Experience:Two years of med-surgical, critic al care or home health experiencerequired. Current NC registerednursingl icense.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Computer skillsrequiredw ith Microsoft Word and Excel experienceValid NC Drivers License; Cardio- Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate(CPR); Certification/Licensure asrequ ired by regulatory agencies. Working knowledge of Medicare andMedicaidr egulations, includingJCAHO and DFSstandards, ICD-9 Coding.Considerable knowledge of professional nursing techniques, practicesand procedures.Ab ility toassess physical, psycho, social and emotional needs of patients.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN programwithin two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.

Experience

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level. CN Is are eligible for promotion to CN II by meeting criteria set forth by the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire. Promotions can occur at 12 months of hire, but no later than 18 months of hire.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
