Job Summary
Responsible for specimen collection, processing, testing, reporting, and quality control in a kind and caring manner.

Responsibilities
  • Properly start lab equipment daily; run and document controls; perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment as scheduled per written protocols.
  • Greet patients upon encounter, verify patient identity at each encounter, explain procedures to be performed, obtain verbal consent, and address patient questions and concerns.
  • Collect specimens from the patient utilizing the approved equipment, sequence, and procedure.
  • Draw blood from the patients finger, ear lobe, or vein, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples.
  • Follow established procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
  • Perform authorized tests within the technicians skill level as determined by education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
  • Report results timely and notifies providers of abnormalities.

Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 6 months to 1 year of related experience or training preferred
