PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reporting to the Banquet Manager, a banquet houseman responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of any banquet rooms, hallways, storage and service areas. You must routinely inventory and care for banquet supplies such as linens, chairs, china, glassware, flatware and decorations.

  • Education: High school diploma preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year as a banquet house person or housekeeping house person preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport relatively heavy equipment.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Has ability to set a room to the specifications of each “Event Order.”
  • Desire and ability to assist Managers and staff in accomplishing guest satisfaction.
  • Able to keep Banquet areas clean and organized at all times.
  • Able to change or adjust room set-ups to better service guests or wait staff.
  • Able to work quickly yet safely when a room set-up must be changed in a minimum of time.
  • Can give timely and clear directions to Banquet Attendants.
  • Ability to make adjustments and changes in room set-ups on short notice.
  • Able to foresee problematic or technical conflicts in room set-up instructions and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to receive instructions and make reports with accuracy.
  • Must show basic computer proficiency such as with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Must be knowledgeable about applicable laws regarding the operation of hotels and restaurants.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Washington State food handlers permit.
  • MAST 12 beverage service permit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 70% pre event set up(furniture transportation and storage)
  • 15% Event day prep- (china polishing- equipment set up)
  • 10% Food runner between kitchens
  • 5% server assistant – covering call offs etc.
  • Checks in and out with Banquet Manager or Captain and takes direction.
  • Reviews BEOs and sets all rooms for upcoming functions as assigned.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of all banquet rooms and banquet back spaces.
  • Details banquet set ups ensuring all tables, pads, pens and water set ups are complete and immaculate.
  • Organizes storage of all meeting room related items, including tables, pads, pens, water, table cloths, etc.
  • Respond to client requests and needs as requested.
  • Responsible for meeting refreshes throughout the day and assisting in room turns in between functions.
  • Assist the banquet manager and service team as needed to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Follow the company's brand standards and code of business conduct.
  • Keep informed of the company's values and ideal conduct. Act accordingly.
  • Pursue the operational goal by carrying out all assignments tasked by a senior employee.
  • Attend necessary training sessions as required by a training manager in accordance with any training plans.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
  • Adhere to hotel grooming standards at all times
  • Use professional and polished language in all written and oral communication
  • Lead with passion and enthusiasm with a commitment to excellence and a creative approach
  • Dedicated to creating personalized experiences and lasting memories for our guests
  • Ensure the implementation of the highest standards in guest service, constantly seek out ways to improve product and service as well as increase volumes and profits
  • Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety policies
  • Oversee for cleanliness, organization and housekeeping/maintenance standards
  • Stand for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Maintain proper posture while at the desk and work area.
  • Enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point of sale systems
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Supervise and maintain the availability, cleanliness and tidiness of items used in the department.

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge concerning hotel services in communicating with customers

  • Adhere to cash handling policies and procedures stipulated in the Cashier Bank Contract
  • Ensure uniform, nametags, and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
