Job Description

Our Manufacturing / Process Engineer will work on a small team in collaboration with Production, and R&D, as well as other departments and vendors to define and measure processes to enable a more robust and efficient repair process.  This role will also analyze, propose, and implement product and process improvements to optimize flow and overall operations.
 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with repair techs to develop, document, and audit repair processes using lean tools and methodologies.
  • Establish standard work sequences and integrate them with work instructions and quality control plans to reduce waste and variation.
  • Learn to lead time studies, Kaizen events, develop Value Stream Maps, 5S workouts, and support sustainment of those solutions.
  • Build a supporting relationship with the repair team to solve their technical needs and improve their ability to serve our customers with excellence.
  • Work with operations to ensure that equipment and processes follow predetermined quality standards to maintain an environment with high quality standards.
  • Analyze products returned and issues reported via customer feedback, maintaining records and implementing changes to the repair processes accordingly.
  • Identify problems, understand the underlying issues, develop successful fixes, and change practices where necessary to ensure that standards are maintained.
  • Create and optimize processes to achieve zero-defect quality and 100% On-Time Delivery.
  • Ensure built in quality practices by creating visual aids and tooling to ensure zero-defects
  • Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by generating metric analysis for the necessary departments for review; finding root causes and designing and implementing corrective action as needed.
  • Support all departments’ compliance with quality policy and internal auditing.
  • Perform routine trend analysis on key quality indicators using lean, six sigma, and other acceptable statistical and problem solving techniques
  • Perform failure analysis and work with engineering design teams, other departments, and vendors to resolve quality problems


Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Must have 2-5 years experience with specific personal impact in the areas of Process Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Quality, , or similar.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering
  • Ingenuity - inherently curious, a self-learner, have a thirst for making things better, self-directed, and able to lead with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical Skills – ability to spot problems quickly, analyze, interpret, and leverage statistical data to find the underlying causes and enact change to impact business metrics.
  • Critical thinking – once problems are identified, solutions and improvements must be found. This decision making might involve thinking about a process, procedure or problem in a completely new way.
  • Attention to detail – as the people responsible for the creation and implementation of quality systems, as well as the people who notice and report on problems, every detail must be considered and acted upon when necessary, and followed-through to resolution
  • Communication skills – strong written and verbal communication skills are key. Must be able to relay potentially complex ideas to a wide range of audiences – both in personal consultations but also through company SOPs and quality documentation
  • Team working skills – strong selfless work ethic, collaboration, service, and passion towards others success is critical to build a positive working environment and be able to motivate and develop others to drive results.
  • No prior electronics troubleshooting experience is required.  Circuit Board Medics will offer training on the job knowledge you need to serve our customers.
  • Fast learner - Since no prior electronics repair experience is required, there is a steep learning curve that must be overcome quickly for success
  • Must work well in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
  • Solid understanding of Industrial Engineering, Continuous Improvement, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies, with examples of applying these.
  • Initiative and strong sense of urgency to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to lead, own, and manage projects and process changes (injection molding, custom tooling procurement, new machine trials)

Desired Qualifications

  • LEAN Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
  • CAD experience
  • Automotive troubleshooting experience
  • Appliance troubleshooting experience
     

Our Expectation

The typical workday is 7:00AM - 4:00PM with a break for lunch.  The daily responsibility of the process engineering team is to ensure that all projects are completed on time, which involves working outside of normal business hours as needed.
