Salary:

JOB TITLE:   Safety Tech

DEPARTMENT:   Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:


The primary responsibility of the Safety Tech is to assist the Safety Director with facilitation and continued improvement of Bobbitt Construction’s safety program in a manner that minimizes workplace injury and accidents and ensure that employees perform work in conjunction with OSHA and customer safety standards.

 

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

 

The Safety Tech reports to the Director and does not have any direct reports.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identifies best practices and leads efforts to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
  2. Conducts and coordinates worker training in areas such as safety regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
  3. Expert knowledge facilitating JSA completion and tailgate safety meetings.
  4. Conducts worksite audits, assessments, and inspections to ensure that employees are complying with safety procedures; and to identify and correct potential hazards.
  5. Must possess ability to learn different web-based technology platforms including the safety management system.
  6. Investigates industrial accidents, near-miss incidents and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures and manage return-to-work activities.
  7. Works within safety parameters as described in the Bobbitt Construction Safety and Health Manual, Bobbitt Construction Employee Manual, customer policy and procedures and OSHA and other applicable regulations.
  8. Provides technical advice, coaching, guidance and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
  9. Assist the Director coordinating employee safety programs and conducts monthly and quarterly safety meetings to communicate safety issues, changes and other requirements to employees.
  10. Regularly communicates with customers to ensure that Bobbitt Construction is aware of the customer’s safety requirements and recommends needed safety improvements to both customers and Bobbitt Construction personnel.
  11. Assist the Director with managing the Company’s Drug & Alcohol program which includes managing the drug and alcohol testing program including random testing and work-related accidents.
  12. Orders and maintains safety inventory including supplies and equipment.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS


Education:

  • A two-year Associates Degree in Safety / Engineering or related field is preferred; however adequate work experience may be substituted.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent a plus.


Licensing/Registration/Certification (if required):

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.


Experience:

  • Two to Five years of progressive field safety experience


Skills, Knowledge & Ability:

  • Ability to build trust and confidence with management and customers.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels.
  • Consultative skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations including OSHA
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Must be a self-starter and able to think strategically and be a leader.
