This senior level management position is responsible for providing the strategic and operational direction for the designated operational departments and is accountable for all operational functions related to the safe and effective operation of divisional departments.

Ideal candidate is a proven leader who uses their experience to manage resources, develop and implement operational plans, and ensures policies and procedures are executed properly to Six Flags’ high standards. Our Director of Operations will work closely with the Corporate Team while reporting directly to the Park President.

To be successful in this role, you will balance your breadth of experience and knowledge with your ability to collaboratively partner with the Park President and peers to drive company operational and guest service goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the safe and effective operation of the Rides, Park Services, Shows, Marketing, Group Sales, and Public Relations Departments.
  • Provide guidance, support, and feedback related to park programs that influence park operations.
  • Oversee and execute the in-park marketing and group sales execution programs.  The Director of Operations will work directly with the Marketing Manager and Group Sales Manager to ensure a seamless execution and integration of marketing and sales programs.
  • Ensure division management works closely with Human Resources in order to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Perform routine and regular assessment of bench strength related to succession planning and talent development for the Operations Division and support the ongoing development needs of direct reports.
  • Responsible for overseeing the creation and maintenance of the operating expense budgets for the operations and marketing departments.
  • Sets Division Team goals based upon Park and Corporate Strategies.
  • Responsible to interface with and support the Revenue Divisions to ensure successful implementation of all special events.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Director and Managers to exceed all established safety procedures and requirements for ride operations and attractions.
  • Provide strategic input to the Park President concerning park direction and product delivery.
  • Monitors and analyzes measurable operational standards such as throughput, speed of service, rides per guest, and downtime followed by guidance for improvements.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all relevant aspects of corporate initiatives and safety audits.
  • Monitors guest feedback and makes recommendations to the Park Management team on product and service issues to be addressed.
  • Responsible for maintaining all Six Flags standards and enforcing all park policies and procedures. Communicate pertinent operating issues to park staff and Park President accurately and on a timely basis. Organize, schedule, and prepare participants for Unit 10 Duty Manager functions to include the preparation of the Unit 10 weekly/monthly schedule.
  • Monitor division Team Member Voice survey scores and assist in the development of initiatives to address areas of needed improvement.
  • Tracks performance. Regularly review and analyze Park seasonal labor performance against targets to identify and implement opportunities to gain ongoing improvements in labor usage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience required, Theme park, hospitality, or equivalent industries preferred. Must have experience in leading teams, building, and executing operating strategies. Must have experience creating annual operating budgets and plans.
  • Education: Knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the achievement of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration program, or equivalent degree in a related field of study.
