Job Description
Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as the Martis Camp Recreation Manager. With oversight from the Director of Family Activities & Recreation, the Recreation Manager will assist in managing and overseeing both outdoor & indoor recreation, aquatics, the Treetop Adventure Course and Park Pavilion activities. This role involves supervising seasonal staff, collaborating with the Youth Activities Manager and Folk School Manager and ensuring exceptional member experiences.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Be a passionate team builder dedicated to crafting unforgettable experiences for members and their guests.
  • Lead the Family Barn Recreation team in daily recreation operations.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training all Recreation Ambassadors.
  • Assist the Director of Family Activities & Recreation with drafting schedules and managing payroll.
  • Ensure exceptional service and hospitality standards are consistently met.
  • Maintain all recreation equipment and facilities as it relates to the Family Activities and Recreation department.
  • Assist the Director of Family Activities and Recreation in calendar and programming production.
  • Be able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, mornings, and holidays.
  • Lead seasonal recreation programs such as kickball, hiking, dodge ball, mountain biking, Nordic skiing and sledding.
  • Oversee winter gear rental and tubing hill programming.
  • Manage lifeguards and aquatics program in accordance with American Red Cross standards.
  • Act as the main contact for recreation vendors and contractors regarding programming dates and payment.
  • Effectively communicate utilizing email and phone calls, for members inquiring about Family Activities and Recreation.
  • Empower team members to adopt a high standard of customer service through all stages of the member experience.
  • Document and evaluate seasonal programming and daily facility usage.
  • Oversee the reservations and chair program for all concerts.
  • Support the Director of Family Activities and Recreations with annual budget management, including revenue, labor, and expense oversight.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all facilities and grounds within the Family Activities and Recreation Department.
  • With oversight and support from the Communications Department, oversee promotional materials and signage within the Family Barn.
  • Manage recreational games and equipment at Community Pavilions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive training plan for recreation staff, focusing on safety, customer service, and program quality.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining standard operating procedures to ensure efficient and effective operation of recreation facilities and programs.
  • Collaborate closely with all departments and department areas to ensure the seamless operation and success of our programs and services.

Knowledge and Skills Qualifications:
  • Strong management skills in team building, training, and customer service.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships within the organization.
  • A team builder with coaching and motivational skills.
  • Charismatic with a sense of humor and style suitable for a friendly, fun environment.
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing software programs, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education, Experience, Certifications, and Licenses:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of management experience in a high-end resort, private club, or youth-oriented recreation operation.
  • Current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate AND Lifeguard Certification (or willing to obtain within 60 days)
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License.
     
Physical Requirements:(with or without accommodations)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, sitting, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
Wage Range: $66,000-$76,000 annually
