Inventory Control Technician


Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or industrial engineering preferred
  • 3 years of experience with material handling and inventory control is required.
  • APICS CPIM certification a plus
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Forklift certification is required.


Job Summary:

Inventory technicians are responsible for: auditing inventory, reconciling discrepancies, providing support and training to those who do inventory related transactions, ensuring inventory directives are properly executed, and providing internal customer service. This position reports to inventory/warehouse management and interfaces with all organizational functions, especially manufacturing, production planning and scheduling, sales, transportation, and procurement.


Abilities:

  • Analytical skill required to reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Must be friendly, professional, and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Requires outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, memory skills, and the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Proficient with ERP or WMS systems as well as MS-Office applications (primarily Outlook, Excel, and Word).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety (strictly enforced).  Attendance of all assigned safety training and adherence to all safety policies and practices.
  • Serve as a representative for the inventory/warehouse department.
  • Act as an advocate for initiatives outlined by the Leadership Team.
  • Provide support to associates involved in inventory movement transactions.
  • Update reports designed to track and monitor transaction activity and inventory accuracy.
  • Research and trouble-shoot production inventory issues such as COGI reconciliation.
  • Verify materials are properly labeled and easily identified.
  • Investigate variances from cycle counts and physical inventories. Work with facility managers to correct issues.
  • Assist in the audit and maintenance of production storage areas (PSAs).
  • Provide support for inventory reconciliation processes, including formal physical inventory discrepancies, through transaction research and variance reconciliation.
  • Monitor back-flush bins/materials and reconcile as directed.
  • Preform material transfers between warehouse departments physical and systematic.
  • Assist Material Handlers in locating available storage locations when the regular bins where product is housed is full.
  • Ensure materials are placed in appropriate storage type and section.
  • Consolidate like products located in multiple bins to as few bins as possible.
  • Rotate aged materials to the front to provide easy access for Material Handlers.
  • Update area organization and overflow management which includes cleaning and organizing storage areas and bins.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at reducing: material movements (point of use studies), damage, resource needs, etc.
  • Obtain and remain current on certifications and training as required or assigned.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be required or assigned.

Interpersonal Responsibility:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including communication and teamwork are essential.
  • Must have ability to work well with a wide variety of individuals and managers.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Operation of heavy equipment (forklifts)
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Regular bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, and turning.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Working Environment:

  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Exposure to heat and cold extremes at times.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous production areas (heavy equipment traffic, slip/trip hazards, airborne dust/debris, etc)
