Scope of Responsibilities:

Members of the Food Services Staff will perform the routine tasks necessary to prepare hot meals, cold items, salads, coffees and teas. They may also deliver meals to classrooms and operate point-of-sale terminals.

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Following the instructions of the Director of Food Services, staff members will:

  • Maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment

  • Prepare food in accordance with DHEC guidelines and best safety practices

  • Deliver food to classrooms as circumstances warrant

  • Operate point-of-sale terminals as directed

  • Clean the food serving environment as needed

Goals for the SCS Food Services Department will include:

  • High quality food at a reasonable price (value for the customer)

  • Maintain a food safe environment and a safe working environment

  • A clean kitchen and clean dining areas

  • Excellent customer service

  • Create a culture of food service being part of the SCS ministry

  • Management of food waste

  • Control of the cost of food, without sacrificing quality

Qualified Applicants:

  • Ability to listen and follow directions.

  • Ability to follow safety rules and guidelines throughout the kitchen.

  • Be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ and be in agreement with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.

  • Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School demonstrated by their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing 1-6 hours.

  • Able to stoop and lift kitchen supplies/food

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at a time.

  • Able to hear spoken directions and customer requests

  • Ability to walk throughout the building, sometimes pushing a cart with prepared meals
