Residential Driver:
The Residential Driver is responsible for servicing assigned route(s) with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. The Residential Driver is exposed to extreme weather conditions and unpleasant odors and sights. The hours and physical demands may vary by route or area.

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
  • Provide waste or recycling removal services to customers on assigned route(s) by emptying trash/recycling receptacles into trucks and hauling them to the disposal site
  • Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area
  • Clean up waste spills and overflows
  • Maintain and update route sheets
  • Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete logs
  • Maintain and update driver's log sheets
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers
  • Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body
  • Other duties, as assigned

Roll-Off Driver:
The Roll-Off Driver is responsible for servicing customer accounts dispatched to him/her throughout the day. The driver will collect and haul waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant as directed by dispatch.

  • Provide, replace, and remove roll-off containers and compactors for customers and dump materials at a disposal site or recycling center
  • Complete work assignments safely and efficiently to avoid damage and accidents whenever possible
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with Lakeshore Waste Services Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act), and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws
  • Perform pre-and post-trip inspection of assigned vehicle and document checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) 
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by LRS or directed by the Route Manager
  • Work closely with the Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices
  • Notify the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage
  • Notify the Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager
  • Maintain and update driver log sheets throughout the day
  • Communicate professionally with customers
  • Keep commercial vehicles clean and free of trash/debris
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end-of-day documentation and check-out process
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by the Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs

Requirements:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
  • Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain prior to hire
  • Must not have any DUIs or OVIs within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
  • Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
  • Air brake endorsement required for drivers with CDL-B
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
