Summary of Position:

The Operations Manager will oversee the daily manufacturing operations providing leadership of daily execution and continuous improvement in all areas such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People development. This leadership position will be a key part of the organizations site leadership team helping to transform the business into an effective, lean operation.

Key Accountabilities:

Safety, Health and Environmental

  • Be a champion for safety, health and environmental compliance.
  • Proactively identify and take action to eliminate potential safety hazards.
  • Participate on Safety Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with government, corporate and equipment supplier safety rules and regulations and best management practices.
  • Ensure housekeeping aligned with 5S and an accident free work environment.

Quality

  • Along with the Quality and Engineering leaders, develop and implement standard work to ensure conformance to defined specifications and continuous improvements in customer satisfaction.
  • Reinforce a culture of continuous improvement through employee training, involvement and metrics.
  • Foster a systemic approach to managing our business through the implementation of tools and processes built on six sigma and lean principles.
  • Focus daily on zero defects. Where escapes occur, ensure appropriate Root Cause and Corrective Actions.

Delivery

  • Coordinate the planning and execution of people and resources to ensure customers receive their product on-time as promised.
  • Develop and maintain staffing and development plans to ensure adequate workforce readiness and flexibility.
  • Identify and implement improvements to product Lead Times.
  • Understand the most effective value stream from the perspective of the customer to enable elimination of non-value-added activities.

Cost

  • Direct the operations team to meet production standards and goals in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Measure and improve productivity performance through implementation of lean principles and actively participate in the development of annual budgetary goals.
  • Accurately complete necessary production records and reports on a timely basis.
  • Identify and provide leadership for improvement in process throughput, yield, scrap reduction, and inventory turns.

People Development

Candidates must possess strong organization and time management skills, and ability to communicate clearly.

Education: At a minimum, a AAS degree is required in manufacturing, engineering, management or related field. Bachelors degree strongly desired and will be given preference.

Work Experience: Must have 5-10 years experience in a manufacturing with demonstrated experience with Lean Management Systems.
