Another Source's client, the University of Idaho, is recruiting a Technical Product Manager to join their University Communication and Marketing team. This position can be remote but will preferably be in Moscow, Idaho.

University of Idaho is seeking a Technical Product Owner for University Communication and Marketing (UCM). UCM is responsible for advancing U of I's brand through focused messaging efforts. While these communications vary in type and channel, all messages are sent through or with the support of technology.

About the Role:

The Technical Product Manager, University Communications and Marketing (UCM) contributes to the planning, design, and development of enterprise applications. This position is responsible for the success of a product or family of products. This position will work closely with cross-functional business leaders, peers, and technology leadership to ensure systems are positioned for the growth of the University. This includes performing or supervising analysis, design, development, and testing, to ensure the deployment of reliable, secure, and scalable business-critical applications and platforms. The Technical Product Manager works in a collaborative environment with business and technology owners and fosters a culture of teamwork and support across the University and within the technology team.

This position is a blend of product and project leadership and will require partnering with cross functional teams to achieve high performance levels with application services and support the alignment of team activities with the University's business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

35%- Provide Vison and Leadership for a Product or Product Portfolio by:

    Serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a product or portfolio of related products
  • Understanding available software platforms
  • Understanding and representing user needs
  • Defining a vision for a product and creating product roadmaps
  • Aligning stakeholders around the vision for the product
  • Prioritizing product features and capabilities
  • Ensuring effective cross-functionality and collaboration between teams
  • Determining metrics for success
  • Collecting and interpreting customer feedback
  • Coordinating with other Product Managers on prioritizing, scheduling, architecting and communicating change across the university
  • Managing customer satisfaction and adhering to service level targets

35%- Provide Product Ownership and Project Management by:

  • Ensuring development projects and software deployments meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and comply with all applicable security, privacy, audit requirements and regulations and delivered with the highest quality
  • Managing the product lifecycle, creating upgrade and testing schedules and coordinating regression, QA and UAT testing
  • Managing a product backlog, gathering requirements and user stories, prioritizing tasks, monitoring progress, and providing feedback
  • Developing technical design documents, architectural diagrams and process flows by collaborating with peers and team members
  • Performing continuous review of technologies, industry standards and industry-related developments and making recommendations relative to the need for further research and associated changes

20% Support UCM applications as technical subject matter expert by:

  • Advising UCM leadership on the best use of marketing and communication technologies in response to business needs.
  • Interfacing with vendor technical leads on behalf of UCM to ensure existing and new UCM applications meet business needs.
  • Providing UCM teams with technical training and support specific to UCM applications.
  • Maintaining the UCM application portfolio
  • Developing and maintaining a knowledge and understanding of the composition of UCM related technologies, including modern front-end development languages and frameworks.
  • Providing systems administrative support for UCM's marketing technology stack
  • Monitoring and driving the improvement of UCM technologies to ensure performance, accessibility and usability best practices are met
  • Working with campus peers to facilitate appropriate integrations between UCM systems and applications managed in other units, such as CRM systems and the university's system of record;
  • Using multiple data sources and reporting tools to provide data and reports for use in management decision processes
  • Developing reports utilizing Azure DevOps, Team Dynamix, and other tools as needed

10%- Manage Key Partner Relationships by:

  • Representing organizational IT in meetings related to your supported product family
  • Creating and promoting a culture of excellent customer service
  • Establishing and maintaining ties with colleagues throughout the institution to ensure optimal collaboration and coordination of effort
  • Maintaining relationships with technology vendors for the department and/or business owners
  • Maintaining relationships with leadership, business owners and end users to better understand their needs and address organizational goals

Qualifications:

  • Three years working with software applications in a technical or functional support role
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Preferred:

  • Five or more years of experience working with software applications in a technical or functional leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management of Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field
  • Agile Certification (e.g., Product Owner, Scrum Master or similar)
  • ITIL Certification
  • Experience using modern front-end web development languages and frameworks, such as HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Typescript and React, Angular, or Next.js.
  • Experience with:
  • Digital Experience Platforms (DXP), including content management systems (CMS), digital asset management tools (DAM) and customer data platforms (CDP)
  • Higher Education technology
  • Marketing and communications platforms
  • Modern API development with web services
  • Understanding the relationships between ERP, CRM, CMS, third-party solutions, relational databases
  • Source Code Control / Versioning tools (e.g., Git).
  • Unit-test frameworks, testing automation and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Selenium, JUnit, GitLab CI/CD)
