The anticipated salary range for this role is between $228,713.00and $253,421.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

SUMMARY:

We are on a mission to build the best digital banking experiences for our customers, and we are looking for a Head of Engineering, Executive Director -Core Banking & Partner Platforms who can help lead this mission. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead teams responsible for core banking and partner platforms (SaaS & BaaS)
  • Be the Functional and Technical SME on the core banking and partner platform systems.
  • Drive the requirements for core banking systems upgrades, migrations, enhancements, and updates, working in partnership with all other areas in different domains such as payments, statements, lending, engineering, etc.
  • Design, build, and operate banking experiences, business processes, and features within a regulated, cloud based modern core banking platform by defining capabilities, creating features, and managing user stories.
  • Write functional specifications, manage a product backlog, provide production support, prioritize bugs and enhancements.
  • Will be required to develop, document, and validate technical requirements, process flows, use cases, test plans and other work streams related activities and artifacts.
  • Work on integration of upstream and downstream API interfaces as needed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to prioritize strategic requests, contract, and partner with external firms, execute changes in a high-quality fashion, and communicate progress to key stakeholders.
  • Continuously review, manage, and report progress on SLA's, OKR's and KPI's in partnership with TechOps
  • Ensure that core banking product and technical decisions are aligned with Banks strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or aclosely related field (or foreign equivalent)
  • STEM Master's degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in leading engineering teams.
  • 6+ years of core banking platform management experience leveraging multiple enterprise technologies with a focus in retail banking.
  • Experience with one or more retail banking cores and payments systems such as Thought Machine, FIS MBP, Fiserv etc
  • Experience working with cloud-based third-party service providers.
  • Proficient with agile/scrum, continuous integration, automated configuration management, test driven development, and data center/cloud automation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills with strong ability to influence both internal & external partners.
