You will install and administer databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL, as required to support enterprise applications across the Laboratory’s business services and programmatic missions. This position is in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) Division in the Computing Directorate, supporting the LivIT Program.This position will be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.In this role you will Provide database administration support to our current suite of MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Mongo, Casandra, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB databases.Monitor the performance and take appropriate actions to ensure their availability and reliability.Work with senior Database Administrators to learn and implement highly available database infrastructures required to support enterprise IT service delivery.Leverage systems programming knowledge to automate and manage service orchestration, monitoring, configuration management, security, and patch management of infrastructures and services.Collaborate with customers, IT managers, developers, team members, application administrators, systems administrators, and security administrators to jointly develop highly available infrastructures/services that meet business/programmatic needs.Manage systems throughout their systems development lifecycle, including risk analysis, capacity planning, highly available systems architecture and design, development, quality assurance, documentation, standards enforcement, implementations, and upgrades.Provide problem analysis and remediation support for database infrastructure environments in support of negotiated Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).Analyze and remediate identified cyber security vulnerabilities across multiple database infrastructures and services to ensure our cyber posture meets Laboratory security policies and objectives.Perform other duties as management of complex systems, or complex service monitoring to ensure the resilience of our enterprise application suite.QualificationsAbility to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.Broad experience with administering database infrastructures, including implementation, monitoring, operational support, backup and recovery, security, and lifecycle management in support enterprise-level service delivery.Applied experience with administration of databases like MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Mongo, Casandra, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB databases.Comprehensive experience collaborating with customers, IT managers, developers, application administrators, systems administrators, and security administrators to jointly create database infrastructures and services that meet Laboratory business requirements.Proficient knowledge of UNIX and/or Windows O/S administration, security, and performance tuning.Experience leveraging automation/orchestration tool suites to effectively and efficiently manage a portfolio of enterprise services.Proficient communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to effectively present, explain, and advise
