This position is primarily responsible for the design, development and delivery of learning curriculum. Learning curriculum may be focused on any of the following disciplines depending on the need of the business: systems, operational, and soft skills training. Additionally, the position is responsible for providing continuing education skills training for wholesale (Commercial Banking) teammates, as needed. In this role, the Specialist will:

  • Exhibit a high-level understanding of the business and business learning needs as evidenced by knowledge of products, business strategies and results
  • Provide facilitation support for all Atlantic Union and vendor-licensed training
  • Function as a business service provider through the delivery of learning curriculum
  • Apply advanced adult learning theories to produce instructor-led and computer-based training; develop learning-support peripherals
  • Recognized subject matter expert in instructional systems design (ISD)
  • Prior experience with blended course development and delivery through a learning management system
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating various learning modes into the total curriculum design
  • Participate in and provide leadership to assigned learning projects including all lines of business and HR cross-functional projects
  • Serve as a recognized positive change agent
  • Exhibit full engagement in and support of Atlantic Union's Purpose, Pillars and Values in all training and corporate responsibilities

The Specialist III will begin to develop the skills necessary to design and develop micro learning content to support instructor-led training and will begin to take on learning projects for various Lines of Business.

Position Accountabilities

  • Conduct needs/skill gap analysis to identify learning and development needs; recommend solutions to key stakeholders.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to understand aspects of policies, procedures, systems or skills requiring instruction.
  • Design and develop curriculum/programs utilizing a blended approach and targeted for instructor-led training, computer-based training, job aides and/or learning management systems.
  • Create and deliver eLearning including virtual and self-directed
  • Work collaboratively with business partners throughout curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Produce participant manuals and leader guides for classroom training; support with job aides, and other learning peripherals
  • Lead or support learning deployment, co-facilitate pilot programs, solicit feedback from trainers and business partners, and evaluate results.
  • Facilitate basic and advanced classes on topics such as systems, operational, sales, customer service, and management/leadership.
  • Conduct computer-based synchronous training.
  • Maintain proficiency in facilitation skills and instructional design skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to learning and participant engagement/success.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Manager, Wholesale Training.

Position Qualifications

Education & Training

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field (g., education or instructional design); Masters in Instructional Systems Design, Adult Learning Theory, or HRD preferred
  • A minimum of seven years' experience in a training capacity, with at least four years' experience in curriculum design and development utilizing blended learning approaches
  • Retail banking/financial services/commercial banking experience strongly preferred
  • Continual professional development in facilitation skills, Instructional Design, and eLearning design/delivery
  • Ability to achieve facilitation certification in all Atlantic Union instructor-led courses and vendor-licensed curriculum
  • eLearning development experience

  • Able to design, develop, implement and facilitate learning solutions for varied adult learner skills/experiences and measure learning outcomes

  • Excellent oral and strong written communications skills necessary
  • Emerging leadership skills and ability to build collaborative relationships with all levels within the organization
  • Proficient computer skills relevant to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate experience in training development software such as Captivate, Articulate or Lectora
  • Ability to learn additional software or systems technology
  • Experience incorporating technology into curriculum design models
  • Experience in capturing and evaluating learning metrics
  • Self-motivated and flexible
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Exhibit a wide degree of creativity and critical thinking skills
  • Travel as necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
