Summary: The Pharmacy Technician provides technical assistance to the pharmacist in all ways that are legally allowed and provides prompt, exceptional customer service. The Pharmacy Technician supports Hunter Health’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs all point-of-sale functions, including cash register operations.
  • Provides prompt, exceptional customer service that aligns the organization’s mission.
  • Utilizes, updates, and maintains data in pharmacy computer system and electronic health record, as applicable.
  • Maintains pharmacy files and records.
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory, creates pharmacy orders and returns from specified sources, receives and stocks inventory.
  • Processes third party transactions and handles third party payor rejections.
  • Collaborates with on-site medical and support staff to ensure timely resolution of refill requests and prescription issues.
  • Processes prescriptions and maintains related systems under direction of pharmacist.
  • Communicates effectively with customers and pharmacy and clinic staff.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Makes every effort to assist patients with their concerns and uses problem-solving skills to creatively resolve issues.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures and State and Federal laws, including those pertaining to 340B.
  • Assists the Lead Technician in implementing and monitoring action plans to ensure results, quality and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Current, good standing, unrestricted, pharmacy technician licensure in Kansas, required
  • Current PTCB or ExCPT certification or obtained before first state license renewal as required by KS Board of Pharmacy, required
  • CPR certification, required
  • Immunization Certificate, preferred
  • One year or more of retail pharmacy experience, preferred
  • 340B pharmacy experience, training, or education, preferred
  • Knowledge of ambulatory care or community health care center operations, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Health Records software and pharmacy dispensing software, preferred
  • Must not be excluded from participation in any governmental programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, required.
