FABRICATOR FOR MAINTENANCE 

This position is located in Norwich, KS

**Starting wage $20/hour, increases with experience**
 

Position Summary
This position is responsible for completing various projects using specific fabrication skills and techniques.  Applies knowledge of welding, fabrication, and mechanical principles while supporting manufacturing and maintenance functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for following all safety requirements and to ensure the safety of others.
  • Applies various welding techniques (Mig, Tig, Arc, etc.) for fabrication and repair purposes.
  • Interpret prints, drawings, plans, or job write-ups and apply fabrication or welding techniques to complete projects.
  • Conceptualize projects from job specifications and be able to form drawings as needed.
  • Use various metal working equipment, such as lathe, mill, drill press, surface grinder, etc.
  • Measure various materials using a variety of measuring tools.  Must be able to apply metric principles.
  • Uses various hand tools and properly selects specific tools for the appropriate projects.
  • Performs various 5S duties and preventive maintenance as scheduled or needed.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Train others in fabrication techniques.
  • Performs other duties as required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in fabricating fields, welding, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
  • Must have a high mechanical aptitude and be able to use various mechanical hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Willing to cover other shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and proficient in assigned welding techniques, including weld requirement symbology.
  • Working knowledge of fixturing and welding set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
  • Self-Motivated – ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one’s ability using his or her own drive or initiative.
  • Resilient – ability to recover from, or adjust to, misfortune or setbacks.

EDUCATION
     High school diploma or its equivalent required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
     Ability to operate computerized equipment is required.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
     Certificates in welding and fabrication, preferred, but not required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
     Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
     This position is required to work in a manufacturing environment facility.  While performing the duties of         this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, chemicals and risk of       electrical shock.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles, heat and                     vibration.  The noise level may be loud at times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
     Stand for long periods of time with the addition of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
     Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time           without fatigue.  Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good mental dexterity,                 coordination and stamina.

Work Schedules Available

  • 1st shift schedule 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • 2nd shift schedule 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm
  • 3rd shift schedule 11:00 pm to 7:30 am
