Job Summary: The Continuous Improvement Manager analyzes, maintains, and improves organizational performance. He/she is responsible for deploying business strategy through collection and presentation of key performance indicators and executing either as team lead or coach for corporate and site level initiatives. The Continuous Improvement Manager will establish training programs to support Lufkin Continuous Improvement and sustainable process management systems. To ensure success as the Continuous Improvement Manager he/she must have strong communication skills, ability to work as an individual contributor as well as being capable of identifying and developing internal talent.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Sustain and improve on safety, environmental, and quality policies, processes, and procedures
  • Communicates and exemplifies the company’s continuous improvement system philosophy, vision, and expectations to build a culture of continuous improvement across all functions throughout the plant
  • Acts as a change agent to all departments and levels of leadership to challenge processes, propose ideas, and drive change
  • Design, maintain, and improve processes to optimize productivity and workflow efficiency while clearly communicating goals and control plans to management and shopfloor personnel
  • Execute and deliver on time CER (Capital Expenditure Request) projects/programs based on annual operating plan
  • Coaching individuals and teams in applying effective problem solving using the appropriate six sigma problem-solving tools such as 4C, A3, DMAIC etc.
  • Develops employee training and development on lean manufacturing concepts and culture throughout facilities

Previous Experience and Competencies:

  • Leadership and mentoring skills
  • Dynamic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in challenging situations
  • Great at managing difficult team dynamics
  • Confidence in abilities to lead and communicate organizations through change
  • Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI.  Minitab experience a plus
  • Exposure to a lean environment or lean tools (VSM, 5S implementation, RCA, PFMEA/DFMEA etc.)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either engineering, industrial engineering, or other relevant fields
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in process optimization, engineering, quality, or business management in manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated project management experience with aptitude for being a self-starter and balancing/prioritizing multiple projects at once
  • High level knowledge of gathering and analyzing data through ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • LSSGB or LSSBB preferred
  • Travel up to 50%
