Job Description:


Family Access Center is seeking a BHIS Specialist to join our team in our Osceola, and surrounding counties Lyon, Sioux, O'Brien.


Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and two years of full-time experience working in a mental health setting or 30 hours working with children in a mental health setting.


Essential Functions and Job Duties

  • Provide skill-based interventions for individuals focused on reducing behavioral health challenges by teaching skills such as conflict resolution, problem solving, coping, impulse control, and relationship building.
  • Teach skills in an individual, family and/or group setting.
  • Work with the clients from a wide range of cultural, racial, and ethnic groups.
  • Collaborate with assessing clinician regarding individual needs, strengths, and family functioning.
  • Monitor potential child and family risk factors to assure family’s service needs are met.
  • Respond to crisis as needed.
  • Connect families to community resources and services to reduce recurring child abuse and neglect.
  • Use evidenced based practices to work with families.
  • Schedule continued service reviews or annual assessments with assessing clinician.
  • complete required documentation, progress reports and discharge summaries within the allotted time frames.
  • Adhere to mandatory reporter, confidentiality, and social work ethics.
  • Yearly mandated training.
  • Set-up and maintain files on computer systems to ensure case documentations.
  • Collaborate with other professionals by attend staff meetings and individual supervision meetings or other assigned duties as requested.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Applicant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of community resources and service providers in the service area.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work days/evenings/weekends and be available for crisis intervention.
