Quality Inspector 1 – Non-exempt

We looking for an Aerospace Quality Inspector to perform 1st piece, in-process and final inspection on aircraft engine components for compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements and company specifications before or after manufacturing processes. This will also include performing inspection procedures including checking dimensions of related surfaces, holes, etc., as well as assessment of finish and detection of undesirable nonconformances.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Obtains blueprints and company specification sheet for the item and particular order.

Must be capable of reviewing internal operation sheets against customer blueprints.

Determines inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of specifications and dimensions.

Obtains necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances.

Completes certain assurance checklists during the process. Performs dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary.

Rejects unacceptable items, documents nonconformance, and moves part to quality clinic.

Completes required company paperwork on machined parts inspection activity.

Ability to read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, Engine Manuals, Customer Purchase Order Requirements, etc.

Regular and predictable attendance.

Ability use measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.

Accurate documentation of all inspections (Ex: Receiving, In-Process, Final) and ability to work with operators to ensure all requirements are met.

Communicates with co-workers, colleagues and Supervisors to receive instructions and/or guidance and coordinate activities.

Organize and maintain inspection department, gaging methods, etc.

Must be able to work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements.

Willingness to work with shop personnel to induct incoming parts and aid in the expeditious shipment of critical parts

Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Adaptability to different inspection methods

Adhere to standards of safety and housekeeping as established

Must have basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of Microsoft office and other programs.

Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.

5-10% Domestic Travel required

Physical Demands:

Must be able to perform physical duties and be able to stand, walk, push, pull reach overhead and bend to the floor.

Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs.

Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility

Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least three years’ experience as an aerospace part inspector; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to use measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.

Knowledge of blueprint reading and machinery limitations.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Must have visual acuity enough to be able to read machine dials, gages, Op sheets and precision measuring equipment.
