Job Title: Manufacturing/Design Engineer

Wage Range: Exempt (Salary)

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing/Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the engineering department including, research, design, prototyping, testing, documentation, estimating, and manufacturing process improvement. The successful candidate will be developing innovative new equipment products and manufacturing processes in an exciting and dynamic environment with a wide variety of duties while interacting/collaborating across multiple department teams.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.

(Other duties may be assigned):

• Develops new equipment designs which meet marketing requirements, cost targets, lead times and manufacturability goals.

• Prepares professional presentations for management review including BOMs, drawings, cost analysis, Gannt charts, and testing results.

• Establishes and implements cost-saving ideas for new and existing products by recommending new materials, processing methods or manufacturing updates.

• Develops and carries out equipment test plans to ensure robust, reliable, and safe designs which meet or exceed any regulatory and customer expectations.

• Research and develop information required to produce safety decals and operating instructions

• Deliver accurate drawings and documents required for part fabrication, equipment assembly and customer installation.

• Participates in prototype and pilot builds

• Designs standard and robotic jigs and fixtures for new components.

• Documents and maintains current process and procedure manuals for production personnel.

• Helps resolve technical production issues that affect production quality and productivity. Develops manufacturing methods, labor standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and equipment utilization.

• Plans and establishes sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization of resources.

• Recommends methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and equipment.

Supports and conforms to Quality Management System requirements as defined by CEG and ISO 9001:2015.

Participates in training activities towards the betterment of the organization and position.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

• Excellent design problem-solving and analytical skills

• 3-5 years’ experience in Design Engineering along with Industrial Engineering experience preferred

• Knowledgeable of manufacturing process in low to medium quantity production rate.

• Excellent workflow and efficiency problem-solving and analytical skills

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word & Excel

• Experienced in 3D modeling required with Autodesk Inventor experience preferred

• Good organizational skills, detail oriented, with the ability to handle multiple task simultaneously

• Integrity that is above reproach

• Experience with Lean principles, 5S and / or six sigma beneficial
