Job Summary

With supervision, perform field and laboratory quality control testing of various construction materials. Perform a variety of field and lab tests per AET QA Procedures, maintaining a high level of quality and safety. The services provided within the company are performed to the standards of our industry including ASTM, ASIC, and ACI as well as state laws governing professional services. All services will be performed in accordance with AET's QA/QC procedures.


Essential Functions

  • Performing field testing of plastic concrete, soils, bituminous, or masonry products.
  • Perform field density tests of soils.
  • Perform field testing of plastic concrete.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Perform miscellaneous site tasks as directed by the project manager.
  • Communicate with clients, general construction contractors, and/or ready-mix suppliers.
  • Perform laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and masonry products.
  • Perform other laboratory tests and calibrations as directed.
  • Reporting test results.
  • Maintain AET’s productivity standards.
  • Must provide quality of service and work product that meets or exceeds AET’s expectations.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not have direct reports.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2-years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field of engineering, geology, or construction management.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of company procedures, regulations and standards that govern practices within the specialty area.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using equipment related to the project.
  • Skill in accurately analyzing and effectively communicating test data/results to appropriate parties.
  • Communication skills sufficient to work effectively with clients and coworkers.
  • Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner, and work independently in the field.

Work Environment   

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This position also may require field work in outdoor conditions on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands or finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-100 pounds. The employee will occasionally push or pull equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. The employee is required to frequently work outside.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
