Position: Cadet Sponsor Program Coordinator Salary: $20.50-$22.50/hour DOE

DUTIES:

Serves as the central point of contact for matters relating to the day –to-day operations of the Cadet Sponsor Family Program at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy. Program Liaison for the cadets, sponsor families, the public, and the Coast Guard Academy Administration.

Responsible for soliciting and screening sponsor families for the incoming class each year. Initiate all Background Check procedures for families applying to the Sponsor Family Program, monitor, and track to completion. Provide training for all families and cadets annually and oversight of the application process. Organize and maintain all information and documentation for the training and matching of cadets to families. Maintain records, files, statistical data, and background check completion summaries.

Adheres to and monitors regulations in the area of administrative services and functions of the program, especially regarding protection of applicant personal information. Composes standard operating procedures, sets internal priorities, and develops procedures to meet requirements and generate improvements in administration of the program.

Collects, compiles, and organizes information and data to meet program administration requirements. Manipulates data to meet presentation and report requirements. Initiates and facilitates methods for automating reports and correspondence. Uses a computer to transmit correspondence, create reports, databases, spreadsheets, graphics, newsletters, and presentations. Responsible for maintaining current information on the Sponsor Family Program website and CGA Sponsor Family Program Facebook page.

Beginning in May, work approximately five hours/week, and then in mid June, ~10 hours per week. In July- August, approximately 19 hours per week. In the fall and winter months, back to five-10 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum:

1. An Associate’s Degree from an accredited university with emphasis in business administration and at least two years of administrative experience.

2. Proficient computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite including Access database

3. Experience with public speaking. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

4. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.

Preferred:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and at least two years of specialized experience in program administration within a college/university environment.

2. Strong marketing interaction with the military and public sector.
