Salary:

This position will close April 5th. 


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

         Provides support for the Engineering Department by performing the following duties and accountabilities.

 

 DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):

 

  1. Handles consumer complaints and requests for information investigating discrepancies and resolving problems.
  2. Accepts new service requests and membership applications.
  3. Possesses knowledge of RUS specifications and Construction units.
  4. Performs the duties of a dispatcher or switchman and familiarizes himself with the procedures required to perform these duties efficiently and safely.
  5. Connects and disconnects irrigation services as requested by his/her supervisor (when work load allows).
  6. Makes estimates of line costs and consumer contract cost using current software staking package.
  7. Performs such duties as making staking sheets of new construction and existing line conversions using GPS equipment and current software staking package.
  8. Conducts field inspections of completed construction projects.
  9. Procures all necessary easements for primary and secondary right-of-ways related to work order construction.

   10. Performs Engineering office duties assigned to him/her regarding maps, staking, construction, equipment, records and other office duties. Procures records and files easements and legal documents necessary for the protection of the Cooperative.  Keeps GIS system current, reflecting all new construction and retirement. Checks right-of-way easements with maps and assists the Work Order Clerk on checking staking sheets with maps. Assigns location numbers to new consumers. 

 11. Keeps informed on all Cooperative Policies and represents the Cooperative in the implementation of its policies.

 12. Assists in the preparation of the Work Plan.

 13. Maintains accurate and organized files on estimates, staking sheets and correspondence as per policies and procedures.

 14. Is responsible to represent the interest of management and the Cooperative in his/her designated work area and shall report any instance which is detrimental or is not in the best interest of the management or company to the Engineering Manager.

15. Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations.

16. Participates in community activities and organizations as a representative of the cooperative as assigned/approved by his/her supervisor.

17. Performs related duties as assigned.

Must possess good communicative skills to effectively express oneself to member/customers and all level of employees.

 SCHEDULING AND PLANNING:

 

Must be self-motivated to complete duties on a timely basis making sure that deadlines are met, and multiple tasks are handled simultaneously.

 

 BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION:


High School Diploma or equivalent education

EXPERIENCE:


Five years experience in the field of operations and engineering of an electric utility.  Through knowledge of RUS construction is required.

 

OTHER SKILLS:


Possess a valid Idaho driver’s license

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

 

Telephone, calculator, personal and lap-top computer, software, and GPS equipment.

 

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

 

Office and Field.
