This role involves operating both horizontal and vertical mill and lathe machines, maintaining extremely tight tolerances, and interpreting blueprints with precision. Manual Machinist Job Responsibilities


  • Operate horizontal and vertical milling and lathe machines with expertise.
  • Maintain tolerances within plus/minus one thousandth of an inch to ensure high-quality work.
  • Perform fitting and layout tasks as required for each project.
  • Read, interpret, and understand blueprints accurately to produce components as designed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clarity and precision in work.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating a strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Qualifications


  • 3-5 years of experience as a machinist, with a preference for those experienced in ship repair and fabrication.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a proven ability to work with precision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to ensure effective collaboration with the team.
  • Good math skills, critical for calculating dimensions and tolerances accurately.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing project specifications and documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex blueprints and schematics.
