Job Summary:

The Master Scheduler will balance demand, capacity and supplies to ensure efficient and effective operation of the assigned department or facility. The Master Scheduler is a core participant of the monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process and works with the commercial team to align on the demand plan as a key input to the master scheduling process. The Master Scheduler creates the rolling master schedule and works with the production planning team to align production schedules and master schedule execution. This new role for the organization is critical to support the evolution to the next level of maturity in the S&OP process and to keep meeting the needs of our customers in a complex manufacturing and supply chain environment.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

· Use rough cut capacity planning to analyze the proposed schedules/orders/forecasts from the commercial organization and develop production schedules which most effectively match commercial requirements with plant capabilities, while meeting overall business requirements and plans.

· Integrate a demand plan with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.

· Review proposed schedule changes and recommend acceptance, rejection or alternatives consistent with business requirements, plant capabilities, cost, staffing constraints and business requirements.

· Attend customer meetings as required to support commercial/customer service teams providing delivery dates and capabilities.

· Develop, recommend, implement, and maintain the tools and techniques vital to determine the impact of proposed schedule changes on plant (macro) and machine (micro) load.

· Develop, maintain, and detail the plant production line capabilities, namely, capacity, flexibility, constraints and critical components.

· Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, customer service, and manufacturing departments. Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.

· Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.

· Identify and report on gaps between established capacities and demand.

· Analyze production floor execution through input/output control reporting.

· Align with shop planners on daily execution of the master schedule.

· Support long term capacity outlook modeling and scenarios in support of S&OP process.

· Performs other related duties, as required.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field is highly preferred.

· Five or more years of related master scheduling experience in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Experience with participating in mature S&OP processes.

· Proficient in the use of excel.

· Proficient with production planning systems, such as MRP II.

· Exposure or experience with lean manufacturing concepts and principles

· Professional certification by the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM, previously APICS), or equivalent certification.
