Come be a part of our mission.Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team as a SrStaff Communications Systems Engineer based out of Fairfax, VA or Linthicum, MD.What You’ll get to Do:Analyzes, models, designs and simulates communications systems, subsystems, and algorithms for communication networks, data links, digital radio, battle management, and command and control systems such as wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema, digital radio/communications technology and network architecture design.Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 14 + years of experience;12 years with a Master's; 9 years with a PhD; or 18 years of experience in lieu of a degree.TS/SCI or TS with SCI eligibility, and willingness to sit for a poly security clearanceExperience working with RF systems and RF Ranges: L/S-band and K/Ka-bandKnowledge of SATCOM modulation methods and applicability of Forward Error Correction (FEC)Knowledge of linking Budget and Performance calculations to include Gains/Losses/EIRP/PSD/GT/SNR/EB/NOKnowledge of SATCOM equipment including, but not limited to, antennas, HPAs/SSPAs, up/down-converters, LNAs, and modemsKnowledge of SATCOM signal dynamics including modulation, error correction, and associated signal generation equipment. Familiarity performing link-budget analysisExperience with troubleshooting systems hardware and softwareAbility to react quickly in a dynamic environmentCollaborate working in a team environmentAbility to communicate technical approaches and details within small project teams, including team interaction and presentation.Knowledge of parabolic antennas and use for LEO/MEO/GEO applicationsFamiliarization of ITU, FCC and other universally accepted standards and recommendations. Preferred Qualifications:Active TS/SCI with polyFamiliarity with computer networksFamiliarity with Linux Command Line InterfaceDigital Signal Processing (e.g., A/D & D/A converters)Satellite Dynamics and TT+C LinksStrong understanding of RF/satellite communication and antenna theory/principlesData analysis skillsExperience developing ground terminals for LEO/MEO/GEO SATCOM systemsMilitary experience or working in a military environmentDoD Test experienceWorking knowledge of current DoD Space Control systemsSecurity + certification for data transfer responsibilitiesSalary Range: $154,700.00 - $243,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
