Job Description
Our client is a dynamic, fast-growing organization currently seeking a skilled Payroll Lead to join the team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of payroll tax administration, is detail-oriented, and is eager to contribute towards ensuring that operations run smoothly. This is a contract position with a potential consideration for full-time employment.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and manage all payroll processes and steps, ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration.
2. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, staying updated with changes in these areas.
3. Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities and ensure the resolution of any employee inquiries and issues related to payroll.
4. Audit and review payroll data to identify and correct discrepancies, providing detailed reports to management as necessary.
5. Develop, maintain, and update payroll procedures and ensure adherence to established policies.
6. Collaborate with HR and accounting teams, providing them with payroll information as needed.
7. Assist in the preparation of end of year reports and statements.
Required Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
2. Proven experience as a payroll lead or similar role.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of payroll tax laws and prevailing wage laws.
4. Proficient with payroll software platforms.
5. Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a diversified team.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Payroll certification like Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
2. Knowledge of multi-state payroll and payroll tax.
