NURSE PRACTITIONER - Full-time

SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric evaluations and ongoing management of psychotropic medications to children, adolescents and adults treated in outpatient, Article 31 mental health clinics within Suffolk County.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Nurse Practitioner will conduct psychiatric assessments of patients/families and treat children/adolescents and adults.
• Initiate selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultation, and laboratory examinations.
• Provide medication management to children, adolescents and adults with a full range of DSM diagnoses (including co-occurring disorders) in an outpatient setting.
• Health monitoring (including vital signs).
• Administration of intramuscular injections.
• The Nurse Practitioner will provide covering medications through telehealth or other means after hours.
• Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultation and laboratory examinations.
• Provides patient/family education and counseling in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, and disease prevention.
• Participates in team meetings/huddles and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to primary health care delivery,
• The Nurse Practitioner will maintain a current level of knowledge relative to professional practice.
• Acts as resource to staff and implements educational programs.
• Participates in the evaluation of the cost effectiveness of services provided.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve goals of the organization.
• Performs related duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree from a Nurse Practitioner Program required.

Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND a Nurse Practitioner in New York State required.

National Board Certification in specialty area, required; certification to be obtained prior to next re-credentialing review.

Must have a collaborative practice agreement with a physician and designated protocols, both filed with the New York State Department of Education.

At least 1 year of experience relevant to the area of clinical practice required.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.

$80 - $92 / hour
