THE POSITION

You will provide direction and guidance to licensed and trained automotive and diesel mechanics that perform a variety of analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair duties on a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles and hand tools. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the supervisor, you will oversee the diesel mechanics who conduct state vehicle inspections. You will also provide oversight on work orders, time charged to repairs, and reports on equipment accidents or damage. Your role will involve planning, scheduling, and directly supervising a range of analytical, troubleshooting, and repair tasks for various construction equipment and hand tools. The equipment and hand tools are powered by gasoline or diesel engines and have hydraulic, electrical, heating and cooling, manual and automatic transmissions, exhaust, and drive train systems.

Additionally, you will be responsible for supervising state vehicle inspections and ensuring quality assurance results for assigned equipment. You will assign work to mechanics, complete equipment work orders, and review parts and time charges for accuracy. Your duties will also include communicating with vendors, requesters, and other staff members regarding purchasing requirements, delivery logistics, and payment issues. Lastly, you will supervise, direct, and assist mechanics in identifying complex equipment problems using diagnostic test equipment and procedures to determine the necessary repair methods.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of journey level mechanical experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid PA Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake restriction (L) removed, supplemented by Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H) and Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N).
  • This position requires possession of an active Class 4 or Class 7 Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
