Job Description

West Direct Oil and looking for a Lead Mechanic to join our Maintenance team out of our Henderson facility.

The Lead Mechanic will perform mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of company fleet. Must have a full understanding of how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and Company standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance and preventative care
  • Perform assigned repairs and preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, tire rotations, minor adjustments, etc.
  • Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
  • Perform routine safety inspections
  • Identify damage and mechanical problems and perform repairs accordingly
  • Ensure potential DOT violations are identified and fully repaired prior to releasing equipment to operations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
  • May perform road calls to make repairs on trucks as needed.
  • Provide oversight to other maintenance staff team members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Heavy diesel truck maintenance experience (Certifications Preferred)
  • Valid state issued driver’s license
  • Must have own tools appropriate for position
  • Able to perform repairs duties in outside environment at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles
  • Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other state and federal regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
