About the Role


The Carpenter Finish/Trim, performs a range of finish and trim carpentry and millwork--including baseboards, stair railings, crown moldings, door and window casing, decking, cabinetry, and other woodwork--on large, commercial construction projects. 


Primary Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Project Managers, carpenters, journeymen, supervisors, and others to ensure that each project is executed on time, under budget, and in accordance with quality standards. 
  • Stay on task and focused, meeting or beating deadlines.
  • Analyze and interpret drawings, blueprints, and other instructional documents to determine the project’s carpentry needs.
  • Perform and evaluate methods for fabrication and installation of prefabricated elements.
  • Prepare layouts.
  • Perform finish and trim carpentry work in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and install various fixtures and millwork for doors, windows, ceiling panels, staircases, decking, furniture, etc.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders. 
  • Use power and hand tools and other construction equipment, including hammers, screw drivers, tap measures, measuring squares, chisels, mallets, saws, planes, sharpening stones, grinders, drills, clamps, routers, sanders, joiners, planers, lathes, pencils, cords, miter boxes, bench hooks, vises, dust collection systems, pegboards, work benches, tool belts, safety equipment, personal protective equipment, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with building components and equipment.
  • Perform quality control checks.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in finish carpentry.
  • 5+ years of experience working on commercial projects.
  • Experience working with power and hand tools and other construction equipment.
  • Experience building architectural interiors, retail displays, and museum exhibits.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
