The Sonnenalp is looking for a Full-Time Year-Round Equipment Manager. Sonnenalp is accepting applications until May 1st, 2024.

Wage Range: $75,000 - $85,000/year, plus bonus

Summary:

Under supervision of the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, and oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program. This includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Superintendent. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area, maintenance building, maintenance yard, and equipment storage area.

Responsibilities:

1. Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipments including diesel, electric and gasoline powered automobiles, trucks trenchers sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility and maintenance work.

2. Instructs and or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventative maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.

3. Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work

4. Maintains a preventative maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.

5. Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment condition, costs of repairs and preventative maintenance for all equipment.

6. Spot checks equipment for performance on the golf course. Frequently makes emergency repairs to equipment.

7. Grinding of reels and bed knives. Replacement of bearings and seals.

8. Regulates employees use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant if needed

9. Performs other duties directed by superintendent.

11. Serves as a public relations representative for the company both on and off the job.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

  1. Working knowledge of light and heavy duty maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses.
  2. Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and skill in making mechanical repairs.
  3. Working knowledge of the theory, care and operation of the internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
  4. Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
  5. Ability to move heavy objects.
  6. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
  7. Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work.
  8. Knowledge of /or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.
  9. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION

Evaluated on criteria from the Sonnenalp Performance Management System. The categories include: Financial goals, Customer service, Employee Learning & Growth, and Processes. The employee shall be reviewed once per year.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Equipment Manager will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent or the Assistant Superintendent.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a team player. Must be willing to work weekends for snow removal responsibilities. Must be willing to make after hours repairs on equipment needed by golf course personnel. Must have a positive attitude and be willing to continually improve professionally. Troubleshooting hydraulics, welding experience preferred, fabricating experience preferred,
