Job Duties and Accountabilities

Principal Function of the Position:

Adheres to and assists with implementation and management of quality control systems designed to ensure the manufacture of products consistent with established standards, customer specifications and productions goals.

Primary Duties:

  • Maintains inspection criteria and procedures. Validates first piece inspection documents used in production departments.
  • Adheres to and provides work instructions and procedure training for personnel.
  • Provides inspection activity for product throughout production cycle. Randomly audits product to assure conformance to Orthman standards and prints.
  • Applies total quality management tools and lean six sigma tools to identify root cause issues and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence. To include leading teams through the root cause analysis process.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products per Quality Manual.
  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Works with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts for company use.
  • Performs receiving inspection on incoming products to assure conformance to prints and standards.
  • Calibrates/verifies gauges used for product inspections by quality and production personnel.
  • Performs process audits to determine opportunities for improvement in the quality system.
  • Actively tracks all nonconforming products for assigned facility or as directed and generate reports used for analysis.
  • Create corrective action requests (8D) as required and follow up to assure timely responses and effectiveness of solutions. This includes internal and external supplier and customer corrective actions.
  • Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.
  • Investigates customer complaints regarding quality and initiates corrective action.
  • Reviews and validates production tooling and fixtures for conformance to product print specification.
  • Utilizes CMM equipment and other measurement instruments to verify/validate product, fixtures and tooling.
  • Assists with the creation and implementation of process control plans and work instructions.

Education Requirements

Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or several years of applicable work experience.

Prerequisite Skills and Work Experience

  • Computers and Office Equipment.
  • Operating precision measurement tools and equipment.
  • Able to understand and follow instructions given in English.

Basic Math and Computer skills.
