Mapping/Drafter Technician

Wage: $22-$33 per hour depending on experince

Fulltime position: 40 hours per week

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Working Hours:

Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Occasional Saturdays on an as needed basis

Reports to Survey Manager

Essential Functions:

  • Capable to sit in a desk chair for several hours in a working day
  • Physically use your eyes to read computer monitor for several hours in a working day
  • Ability to utilize a computer and Microsoft Office

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • 1-5 years’ experience required being employed in a civil engineering / surveying office
  • 1-5 years’ experience including Survey Drafting or similar
  • Proficient with Civil 3D / Carlson Survey software
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience utilizing 3D Modeling and AutoCAD preferred
  • Survey software and Cyclone experience is strongly preferred
  • GIS experience is a Plus
  • Requires the ability to work independently, be self-motivated, have good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work directly with clients
  • Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude
  • Minimal Travel required for this position

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Survey Manager and Licensed Surveyor in plan preparation and specifications.
  • This position will provide CAD support for field survey crews with daily construction layout.
  • Review construction drawings for new revisions and/or conflicts.
  • Draft different types of Land Surveys, Topographic Surveys and familiar with land surveying CAD standards.
  • Perform mathematical calculations for engineering and survey documents
  • Lead client meetings and provide project proposals
  • Manage presentations when applicable
  • Coordinate with office staff and field crews with pertinent data and schedules
  • Create a variety of documents for civil engineering and surveying
  • Work directly with design engineers, clients, safety officers, and the public
  • Participate in required company training programs
  • Be flexible and ready to learn new technologies
  • Communicate with clients in a professional and timely manner
  • Work cooperatively with staff and be able to partner on managing projects
