Job Description:

The Electrical Superintendent coordinates and supervises assigned foreman, subcontractors, and others in a particular work (discipline) area. Manage and direct all aspects of a project from beginning to end. Excellent leadership qualities are required to allow him or her to take control of a project and produce results. Will split working time between the field and the office.

Job Duties:

  • Meet with building owners, general contractors, or other outside contacts to discuss build-out specifications and project timelines.
  • Oversee all phases of a construction project from initial planning to completion.
  • Drive labor productivity and standards for quality of work in the field through foreman.
  • Hire and assign construction labor to projects.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures. Participate in the disciplinary or termination process of field staff.
  • Maintain a daily job site log.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction project activities. Make changes as necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports and cost tracking reports.
  • Effectively utilize administrative support for the following: RFI and submittal preparation and tracking, obtaining permits or licenses, and to requisition supplies or materials for projects.
  • Work with accounting department on progress billing.
  • Establish new and maintain existing client relationships by being proactive and having strong communication skills.
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes or other regulations. 
  • Communicate with internal and external contacts to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, construction problems, etc.
  • Investigate incidents or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper construction procedures are being followed.
  • Recognize risks and take action to mitigate.
  • Work closely with and mentor Project Foreman and Leads.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience as Project Superintendent in the construction industry; 2+ years’ experience in build-out construction preferred
  • Electricians must provide proof of CA Journeyman Electrician certification.
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical theory, the National Electrical Code, and local and state electric/ building codes required.

 

  • Proven history of managing projects within and under budgeted hours and production rates.
  • Ability to work with numerous contractors and sub-contractors in an efficient manner
  • High school graduate or equivalent required; Construction Management certificate, PMP certificate or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • Labor factor analysis and modification
  • CAD experience preferred
  • Industry experience and knowledge of prevailing wage is preferred
  • NEC and basic electrical knowledge preferred
  • Electrical design capabilities preferred
  • Estimating experience and ability to manage change orders preferred
  • Must have a valid California driver license and favorable DMV record


Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must have minimal ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, push, and pull as required for light duties of standard office clerical positions.
  • Occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Exposure to air-conditioned/heated office environment.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word level.
  • Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing data, operation of office equipment, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
