Overview
The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical oversight to a maximum of eight behavioral health providers in the delivery of assessment, goal setting, treatment, and crisis management services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The CS must provide their own malpractice insurance ($1M per claim; $3M in the aggregate) and complete mandatory agency orientation and training (during paid time).
Key Role Responsibilities
- Meet with supervisees virtually for weekly supervision. Supervision must be conducted via visual-audio technology (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, e.g.).
- Provide group supervision for up to 6 LMSWs on a bi-monthly basis.
- Maintain detailed supervision records to be submitted on a monthly. Records should reference a client by medical record number.
- Complete clinical review of documentation to ensure it is thorough and completed within 3 business days.
- Provide review and co-signature for encounter notes that are completed by supervisees who are not independently licensed.
- Conduct chart audits as requested to ensure quality care. Provide training and support on identified needs and growth areas.
- Assist with cross-discipline care coordination among supervisees through case conferences and team meetings.
- Provide insight in performance evaluation process. Report any disciplinary or performance related matters to the Senior Director within 1 business day of discovery.
- Demonstrate positive regard and respect for clients through speech and actions. Utilizes and models a client-centered, non-judgmental, trauma informed approach.
- Set and reinforce clear expectations, monitor outcomes, create a culture of open communication, and help supervisees solve complex problems through individual and group supervision
- Assist with cross-discipline care coordination among supervisees through case conferences and team meetings
- Ensure that supervisees complete documentation within the clients’ electronic health record (athenaOne) in a manner that is easy to understand and in accordance with established formats and required timeframes.

- Provide input into performance evaluations of supervisees. Report any disciplinary or performance related matters to supervisor in a timely matter
- Models and reinforces the core values of dignity, authenticity, hope, justice, passion and balance
- Protect clients’ personal health information by maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other relevant health care-related IT security regulations
- Immediately responsive by phone or email within contracted hours
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Formal Education and Training (all required)
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Currently licensed in Maryland as a LCSW-C
- Registered as a supervisor with the Board of Social Work Examiners
Experience
- Two years providing supervision to staff and/or student learners preferred
- One year supervising staff and building team cohesion in a remote environment required
- Three years providing therapy to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders
- Three years providing case management services to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders
Skills
- Knowledge of assessment and treatment planning
- Willingness to integrate relevant principles into practice such as Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and Housing First
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Flexible approach, working with cross-disciplinary teams in a collaborative style
- Demonstrate comfort with change by approaching it optimistically and helps their supervisees to do the same. Proactively seeks clarity regarding change in a productive, collaborative manner.
- Able to work with clients who have serious behavioral health challenges, manage crisis situations and assess for safety
