Alamosa County- Assessor's Office

REPORTS TO: County Assessor or Deputy Assessor
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $17.00-$19.00 DOE
DATE ADOPTED: March 2024

JOB SUMMARY:
Has data entry skills and working knowledge of the Assessor’s Office to ensure accurate property data is generated to maintain complex records.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (The following are illustrative of essential functions to perform duties and responsibilities of the job.  The position may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional tasks as needed by the Department.   • Work schedule as assigned by supervisor or program
  • Work independently or in a team
  • Enters deed transfers, land splits/combination and replats of parcels into database
  • Enters address changes into the computer system
  • Answers the telephone and assists the public at the front counter
  • Copies maps
  • Runs mail daily
  • Follow policies and procedures of the County
  • Communicate (verbally & in writing) in English
  • Participates in professional training
  • Be on time for work and ready to work upon arrival
  • Meet the physical requirements listed below
  • Perform all other duties as required by the County Assessor
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Skills:
  • Computer skills adequate to perform work tasks
  • Learn and operate software specific to the Assessor’s Office
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in computer language
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Decision making skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English required, bilingual preferred
  • Time management skills to meet required deadlines
Abilities:
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple to detailed instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with property owners and the public
  • Ability to be proficient in all computer programs necessary to accomplish the job
  • Ability to understand and follow moderately to complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment
EDUCATION, LICENSE, & EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Colorado Driver’s License
  • One to two years of experience working in an office
  • Must pass Alamosa County background check and pre-employment drug screen

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit, talk and hear; hearing and vision correctable to normal ranges; close-up vision and the ability to adjust focus across a presentation audience. The employee is required to communicate both orally and in writing. The employee must be able to reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls, drive, and lift (typically not more than 25 pounds). This position may be required to drive in a variety of weather conditions.
