All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience tutoring, teaching, counseling, and/or coaching. 3+ years of experience with college consulting or college admissions is desired.

Overview

ESM Prep is a group of passionate educators founded in 2010. We have created a supportive and dynamic learning environment that fosters growth and success for our students. Today, ESM is part of Stravos Education, a newly-formed, mission-driven company representing a range of successful legacy brands in the education space. Our family of brands includes Summit Education Group, Applerouth Educations, UES, and Launch Precollege Labs. Together, ESM Prep and these brands provide a wide range of support to students, including academic tutoring, college counseling, executive function coaching, and test preparation.

Job Description

ESM Prep is seeking an engaging College Coach to build meaningful relationships with students, help them to successfully navigate high school, and guide them effectively and compassionately through all aspects of the college application process. This includes (but is not limited to) discussing testing paths and the application process, determining suitable colleges to apply to, supporting students while writing their college essays, and assisting with anything else involved in the process. Our Coaches work with each other as well, collaborating on best practices and best ways to facilitate student success.

Work Location: San Francisco Bay Area, working both remotely and in-person at students’ homes.

Work Hours: Your work hours will be flexible depending on your student's needs and availability, but they will primarily consist of weekday (Monday - Thursday) afternoons/evenings and some weekends (mostly Sunday afternoons).

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years experience with college consulting or college admissions
  • Advanced understanding of the modern college search and application process, including first-hand experience with the Common Application and UC Application
  • Dynamic coaching personality and ability to build relationships with students, parents, and coworkers from all walks of life
  • Desire to mentor students over the course of multiple years
  • Capacity for guiding parents through challenging decisions
  • Collaborative spirit, a willingness and ability to work with a team to reach goals together
  • Excellent verbal and written communication to your counseling students and parents through proactive outreach, regular updates, and quick responses
  • Reliable internet access (fast enough for video conferencing)

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Compensation: Total compensation for the first year is projected to be between $80,000 and $100,000 through a mostly even mix of salary and commission. Significant growth potential exists for year two and beyond—six months of guaranteed commissions.
  • Benefits include:
    • Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
    • Generous holidays and paid-time-off
    • 401-k with company match after one year with the company

Diversity and Inclusion:

We believe that diversity and inclusion enrich education and drive success. We are committed to ensuring that all people who interact with ESM Prep--parents, students, staff, contractors, partners, vendors--are respected and valued holistically. We are committed to attracting and retaining students and staff from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences because we believe that diversity fuels innovation and education to new heights.
