What you will be doing:
  • Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under direction of physicians and/or mid-level providers.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs like pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record this information in patients' EMR.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Operate electrocardiograph (EKG) and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
  • Perform venipunctures, lab tests, injections, ear lavage, etc.
  • Schedule appointments, maintain x-ray and medical records, perform secretarial tasks, and complete insurance forms.
  • Perform tele-triage to collect information for providers.
  • Participate in staff/team meetings.
Experience you will need:
  • 1-2 years of direct experience in medical assistance.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • License or certification from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Good knowledge of agency-wide policies and procedures.
  • Experience in managing patient questions and/or complaints.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Experience working with medical procedures and comprehensively providing care.
  • Experience using ACHS Electronic Medical System and standard clinical tools and supplies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including conflict resolution and customer service.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and ability to perform many office tasks.
  • Professional decorum while representing the organization and working with co-workers and patients.
